Client: University of Manitoba
Having acquired the Southwood Lands in 2008, primarily for the purposes of accommodating future non-academic development, the University began the process of developing a comprehensive master plan for the Campus, including the Southwood Lands. MFA were part of a consulting team led by Urbanics Consultants Ltd. who were engaged by the University of Manitoba to undertake a three phased consulting assignment with the first phase being a land use market and feasibility study. Subsequent phases of work include Urbanics acting as the owner’s advocate in the development of the campus master plan, which is the overarching purpose of these activities. The Urbanics team worked with the masterplan design competition winning team of Rosenberg and Studio and Cibinel Architecture Ltd. with the goal of developing a revised plan that remains consistent with the vision presented as part of the initial winning design submission.
